The Rangers have lots of options at DH

Jan 6, 2010, 1:45 PM EDT

It’s much better to be a DH buyer than a DH peddling your wares.  Just ask the Rangers who, according to MLB.com’s T.R. Sullivan, have any number of options available to them this winter.  Among the candidates: Vlad Guerrero, Jermaine Dye, Jim Thome, Gary Sheffield and Xavier Nady.

I agree with Sullivan that Nady, due to his ability to at least play a little outfield, and Guerrero, the most talented of that crop and most likely to put up a big season, are the best bets.  But really, any of those guys would look pretty good in the Ballpark at Arlington.

Vlas G. holds some kind of crazy record for consecutine game hit streak against a single team (The Rangers). If there’s one sure way to get him to NOT hit in Arlington, it would be for the Rangers to sign him, especially as a DH…

As a Rangers fan, I have heard about Vlad’s great stats against the Rangers. Maybe it’s not the park, but rather the pitiful pitching that he gets to feast on? Put him in Ranger Reds (or is that Blues, or Greys, or Whites, or “Los Rangers”?) and it’s possible his stats drop.

Jermaine Dye would certainly mash in Arlington. Vlad would be the most exciting bat to add though…
