"MLB Trade Rumors notes that the Blue Jays, Marlins, A's and Pirates could all use an experienced closer like Valverde"
I thought we, meaning the on-line community, had established long ago that the only teams who "need" an experienced closer are teams in contention. The Marlins are the only team likely to to possibly fit that description, and it's a reach for them being in the same division as the Phillies.
As for the A's, last time I checked, this was their closer situation:
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?playerId=30096
or
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?playerId=6387
Both of those guys (Bailey or Devine) make the minimum.
Valverde at x millions or Bailey/Devine for $ 400k. Hmmm.

I don't see Oakland as a fit at all. They have ROY Andrew Bailey slated to close, backed up by Brad Ziegler and Michael Wuertz, and Joey Devine returning. Their bullpen is about as deep as any in baseball. Besides, Oakland generally lets other teams pay for closers, so it's hard to see them starting now, with that bullpen and without a real chance to compete this season.
