Even if that's true, improves them to what? Losing 98 games instead of 100? There's no point in making marginal upgrades when you completely suck. The fact that the Royals do not understand this is probably their biggest issue right now.

I’m not saying it’s a terrible move by itself, but it is another in a long line of acquisitions that almost completely ignore OBP and defense.

Look, the bottom line is, any time a small market franchise can sign a guy who’s 34 with a lifetime -5.6 UZR/150 in CF, you have to make that move.

You want to be nice to Dayton Moore for a minute? That’s both your prerogative and your problem. They could have just re-signed Coco Crisp and had a real full-time CF. Scott Podsednik is another sad moment for a sorry, once-proud franchise. You wont’ say it – fine – I will. Signing Scott Podsednik is a sub-moronic move that fits in perfectly with a long long line of other idiotic Moore missteps. Oh, and “replicating” Scott Podsednik’s production really wouldn’t have been difficult, and it should have been attempted with someone who isn’t on the wrong side of 30.
Buying a 34-year old banjo hitting ex-speedster with a subpar glove? Priceless.

Ah, yes, college football where 412 teams in 38 conferences get to fight it out for a non-existent National Title. The pitch f/x guys would jam every server east of Siam and IBM would again be bigger than WalMart
To win the World Series the Universe would have to be ahead in the third inning of the May 30th game vs. the Mudhens, but only if they had an unassisted triple play in the bottom of the inning.
