I enjoyed JB’s comment, hinting that things like being a ‘club house guy’ are sometimes a tad overrated. That said, I would not be opposed to the Twins giving up a mid-level prospect for Lowell and cash. At 4 million, Punto will be starting but where? Signing Lowell allows him to slide to second. Or bringing in a guy like Hudson or Felipe Lopez will pump Punto to third. I believe the Twins can afford to upgrade one of these spots and Lowell at third would certainly be an upgrade in offensive production from Twins third basemen last year.

Only if they quickly build a Fenway Park replica to play in. Mike Lowell hit all of .276/.331/.382 on the road last year. Although, in fairness, he did it with immense class and consummate professionalism.

I agree, the Twins seem like a good fit. They’d get paid to get a transitional 3rd baseman (Danny Valencia is waiting in AAA), which with that money they can get themselves a decent 2nd baseman.

How about the Angels? They seem to have lost everybody to free agency or something this winter. They could move one or two of their middle relievers back to the bullpen to free up some infield space. Is there anyone left on the major league roster, or are they going to populate the field exclusively with EYPs? Mike would thrive, even thought the Anaheim Burrito King closed down years ago.

The Twins still need a 3B, and Lowell would be an upgrade. Especially if the Sox took on a good portion of the money.
