Matt Kemp and the Dodgers are nearing a two-year deal

Jan 13, 2010, 4:50 PM EDT

Dylan Hernandez of the L.A. Times tweets it.  Here are some more details. It’s two years, but we don’t know terms yet.

The sense before was that Kemp may want to go year to year with the Dodgers given the fact that (a) he’s a stud centerfielder; and (b) the Dodgers could be in the poorhouse soon.  But two years isn’t some monstrous commitment either, as it only buys out his last two arb years two of his first three arbitration years and fully preserves his rights to hit free agency when he would have anyway.

Is Kemp sure he knows who he’s going to be working for in two years? She looks like a real cougar to me.

Does Matt Kemp even know what his agent was doing in the 80’s? I know MTV doesn’t even play music anymore, but you can You-Face the old Eurythmics videos and that is some embarrassing shit for a baller to have his agent dressing in the suits that were too gay for Prince and rocking the Flock of Seagulls hairdo.

They’re buying out his first two arb years but not the third? That seems very unusual to me. Also seems kinda pointless.

I hear Kemp will be paid over ten years.
