Report: the Braves still pursuing Johnny Damon

Jan 14, 2010, 10:57 AM EDT

Dave O’Brien tweets it anyway.

It seemed like the Braves were done making big moves and were content to head to Florida with an outfield of Melky, McLouth, Diaz and maybe — just maybe — Jason Heyward. This didn’t sit particularly well with most Braves fans.  Johnny Damon for a single year at a reasonable price, however, would probably change even the most skeptical Braves’ fans view of things.

I hope they catch him. He has bad wheels and is not so fast, who is chasing him, Bobby Cox.

I think Johnny Damon should come to the Orioles.

I still think Cashman is lying low on this one, and will eventually offer him a 1 yr deal plus incentives… he should anyway!!!

Craig, aren’t YOU the most skeptical of Braves’ fans?

Well, it seems that Boras is at it again. Why do the Braves need an outfielder with bad legs? Anyone who signs Damon for more than a 1 year deal, at about 4 Mil. is nuts. I don’t think the Braves are that stupid or desperate.

The Braves have a farm system, why are they promoting from within and save the money, till it becomes necessary.

Your site was extremely interesting, especially since I was searching for thoughts on this subject last Thursday.
