It's Official: The Phillies sign Shane Victorino for 3 years, $22 million
Jan 22, 2010, 9:49 AM EDT
UPDATE: The deal has now been announced by the team.
Thursday, 8:02 P.M.: A source is telling me that the Phillies and Shane Victorino have reached a deal on a three-year, $22 million contract. The team could announce it as early as tomorrow. Jim Salisbury had reported earlier this week that Victorino and the team were discussing a multi-year deal.
Victorino — a Gold Glover who hit .292/.358/.445 last year — made $3.125 million in 2009. Earlier this week he filed an arbitration request of $5.8 million, while the team offered $4.75 million.
If today’s Joe Blanton deal is any guide, the deal may very well be backloaded somewhat, thereby making his 2010 salary something closer to the figures that were exchanged. And of course, this deal would buy out one of his free agent years, so a bit of a bump above the arbitration figures is in order.
Assuming this done, that leaves Carlos Ruiz as the only remaining arbitration-eligible Phillie.

Nice deal basically core is in tact through 2011, then hopefully the next wave of youngsters is ready and we don’t go back to the days of Don Carman, John Felske, Fred Tolliver and Phil Bradley.

The thing I’ve learned about the Phils the last few years Mike, is that just when you think they won’t get someone or trade for someone, they do. Be patient my good man!

Relax man its a 5th starter. Moyer, Kendrick, Carpenter..Does it matter? The Phils have a good enought defense for anybody to win double digit games (Eaton, Moyer etc)If they get in trouble with injuries, they have plently to trade for more…
Garland is basically a Met – I want nothing to do with that scrub. If he’s not, he should be.
Lee – Good call on some of those almost but not yet forgotten names…Hear that they resigned Duckworth? I heard they are looking at Jeff Stone and Ricky Jordan too.

Three more years of those horrible horsemeat and velveeta sandwiches. He’ll look so old and beat up after those things get finished with his heart and pulmonary system that they’ll be calling him “Grand Victorino” by the time he’s ready to plead for an option year.

They should just nickname this guy “last out” cause thats what he did last season, he made the last out! I hope the silly phillies make the WS again in “10 so the Yanks can plow right thru them again!

Victorino has shown he is a winning ballplayer and he is truly deserving of his new deal. I am glad the Phillies have resigned him. When Phillies lore will be looked at years down the road, Shane’s key post season hits such as the grand slam off Sabathia, the homer to tie the game off Wade and the 1st inning hit in game 5 clincher against Tampa to give us the lead will always be fondly remembered.

Wouldn’t be a Phillies post without Old Gator’s obligatory cheese steak joke. I think back fondly to when that actually approached funny.
And really, we all know that Shane prefers Kalua Pig to horsemeat any day.

They’re only horsemeat if you’re making ‘em right.

Ahhh, love to see the Phillies keep the core together, but something tells me that we will see a trade coming, maybe not for Victorino, but I think the need for a fifth starter will see the Phills lose one of these allstar outfielders, I’d rather not see it myself ,I’d like to see them just pick one up for cash, after all, It’s not my money….

Gator, you make no sense and you think your funny when you use the horsemeat and velveeta joke but its not funny at all especially after you say the same stupid joke everytime you post and grand victorino wasn’t funny either. Please stop insulting us with your bad humor

Got a deal for you – I’ll consider trying to find out what kind of meat they really use in those horrible things (assuming you really want to know) if you promise to learn how to punctuate a run-on sentence. I don’t know about you, but I had a handle on that by the time I finished fourth grade. Now pardon me, the little red light on the pressure cooker tells me that my macrobiotic brown rice is ready.

To marketplace in conditions of high-performance rather than price, and in order to specialize accordingly, you need to pursue the frequent format of the 4 Ps marketing plan. That is, Price, Product, Place and Promotion manifestly you cognize the central attributes of the product, and the price, but for place you should think around the type of individuals who are willing to give over 4x price of competing product whereas the low-cost option may be sold where emphasis is on cost, your merchandise will be suited to places/distributors where the customers will be willing to pay for quality. Thank you for this article! I’ve just received a without doubt wonderful news source about seo Test it!
