As a fan of the rival A's, I unfortunately have to agree with the Angels' fans comments. The rest of the league may not know it, but Maicer was really useful to the Angels:
- plays several positions really well
- professional at-bats
- good, aggressive base runner
All this for $ 3.3M for the next 3 years.
And in case some of the fans from back East aren't aware, the Angels have drawn over 3M fans per year since Arte Moreno took over. It's a very well run franchise.
This will be an interesting year for the Angels, though, as Seattle has improved, especially their pitching and defense. Texas could be really good. I'm betting that Jaramillo leaving actually has a positive effect on Kinsler and Josh Hamilton. If their pitching matches last year's performance, a tall order, Texas could contend.

Giant Angel Fan
This is money well spent; they should look at putting Maicer at 3rd base just like Figgins

Knocking down those potential arbitration cases one by one.

Money well spent. Best infield utility player in all of baseball - excellent insurance for a very young infield.
