The Mets started a three-day minicamp this morning and all of the New York writers are tweeting from Port St. Luice. Most of it is “everyone’s happy; everyone looks good.” Best tweet so far, however, is this dissonant note from Kevin Kernan:
At Mets minicamp. Santana looks great. Ollie Perez has already thrown 2 over the fence.
Jets training camp opens in about six months.

Oliver Perez better than Koufax, but Koufax is 74 years old. Who would I take? ……………………… Hold on I’m thinking!

“Ollie Perez has already thrown 2 over the fence.” Shouldn’t that title really read “Ollie Perez has already given up two homeruns over the fence?” Mets fans already know about his mid-season form. The way he pitches, the end of the season for him will be April 10.
Omar Minaya: “Perez or Lowe? Perez or Lowe? I think I’ll sign the out of shape, injury prone Perez. Our medical staff will be able to fix him.”
Off to another bad year, when Perez is in the rotation. I have high hopes! The glass is half full on Mets – 2010 Season.

That’s the thing about Oliver Perez – he’s not afraid to throw the ball anywhere but over the plate; you gotta respect that.
