The Cubs sign Xavier Nady

Jan 26, 2010, 12:44 PM EDT

UPDATE: It’s Xavier Nady. The dimensions will stay 355-368-400-368-353.

12:20 P.M.: Bruce Levine of ESPN Chicago reports that the Cubs “appear close to adding outfield depth.”

That could mean that they’re going to sign Johnny Gomes or Jermaine Dye or Xavier Nady or someone. It could also mean that they’ve removed the bleachers and scoreboard and it’s now 440 to dead centerfield.

We’ll let you know which one it is as soon as we hear anything.

    I hope it’s #2.

  2. Ross - Jan 26, 2010 at 12:33 PM

I’d take Reed Johnson back, for that matter.

perhaps the MYSTERY TEAM has finally struck!

Do they now have to play an extra OF to play cut-off to help his twice TJS-repaired elbow stay intact?

Actually, the Cubs have become a softball team. The X-Man will play shortfield.

Cubs are also in negotiations with Dr. James Andrews and Nady’s prior two elbow ligaments.

I’m kind of sad he was injured so early in his Yankee career, and hope he stays healthy. Not that it would help the Cubs, who have some kind of Dan Brown artifact hidden in the ivy that makes it impossible for them to win. Minaya is close to finding it.

You like riding Minaya……….I hope he makes you feel good.

Well, there goes another option for my Yanks.Perhaps the Yankee brass knew something we fans don’t,about Nady.Otherwise, they’d have made him an offer to stay in N.Y..Maybe they did and he chose to go to the Windy City and back to N.L.instead.Oh well, best of luck to you Xavier, you once looked good in pinstripes!!!
