Don't be silly. The great pitchers of the game threw more than Prior ever did. In the near past, Gibson, Koufax, Dyrsdale, Ryan and on and on threw 100 pitches routinely. Many pitchers threw 110-130 every time out. this 100 mark is a recent development. In the old, old days, pitchers threw double headers. I know a minor league player who threw his are out after two months of playing. (Before Tommy John surgery). No one forced him to pitch. He did not have good enough arm strength to begin with. If young players want to be pitchers, they had better do some arm strengthening before getting to High School. The young guys today do not get that exercise properly.

Yes, Baker, and mostly pitching coach Larry Rothchild destroyed any opportunity for a great career and a huge $ contract for Mark Prior.
Letting Prior throw 90 + for 2 years.
If I were Prior, I could never forgive this two inept manager/coaches.
Just part of the reason the Flubs have not one in 100 years +.
This has to be a case of coaching mal-practice.
Can you say 'Lawsuit' !

Please tell him to stop. It was too bad a great talent had his career cut short. I don't think it was Baker who worked him too hard and long. This kind of thing has been happening to pitchers since the game was first played. Pitching is one of the most un-natural motions in sport. One's arm was never intended to do the things a pitcher does with it. Not to mention, that he does it again and again for months out of the year. Thousands of good arms have gone this way over the years. Too bad it happened, but that is part of the game. It is not anyone's fault. Just bad luck for Prior. I don't think he can come back, but if someone is willing to give him a chance go for it. I can not imagine that any manager/coach in the game would appreciate it being singled out as ruining a players career just because he asked him to play the game.
