Dodgers closing in on Reed Johnson

Jan 31, 2010, 3:49 PM EDT

On Friday, Craig wondered why the Dodgers were going after Garret Anderson. Well, it looks like they’ve come to their senses, because according to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Dodgers are making a “hard run” at free agent outfielder Reed Johnson. He adds that a deal “may be close or already done.”

Johnson, 33, played in only 65 games last season due to a fractured left foot, but batted .255/.330/.412 with four home runs and 22 RBI. He holds an 841 career OPS against lefties and is capable of playing all three outfield positions. If Johnson is signed, Xavier Paul and Jason Repko would likely compete for the final outfield spot.
