This new baseball economy is unfathomable. How does an Orlando Hudson not get scooped for the $3-4M he apparently will settle for? Twins, you are in an eminently winnable division and you insist on dicking around with the likes of Punto and Harris?

Yes, Hudson is 33 and at the age where second basemen are known to fall off a cliff. But a one-year deal on a guy who has recorded OPS+s of 102, 105, 107 and 109 the past four years, all while playing a very good second base (if not actually Gold Glove worthy) would seem to be a modest risk with tons of potential upside.

This is a no brainer, add a million and the AL Central is for the Twins. Infield will be set, Harris of Punto on the bench. Starting pitching will be better than last year.. Mauer’s extension has nothing to do with this. Hudson completes the line-up, completes the infield. 2010 might be the last year with Mauer on board (he would have signed other while IMO)

Once Hudson is off the board the Twins end up with Adam Kennedy, who will come cheaper and is more versatile, which is good on both counts for the Twins.
