As was said, there is a Triple Crown for pitchers (wins, ERA, strike outs).
And Roger Clemens, over 24 seasons, only hit 159 batters. That averages out to slightly over 6 per year. As far as your claims that he was afraid to stand in the box, he’s logged 179 regular season AB’s as well as 20 in the Postseason and been hit twice.

Ok, quick medical/chemistry lesson.
Steroids are either synthetic or natural testosterone which is a hormone.
HGH is also a hormone, it says it right in the name.
So your argument of Steroids being worse than HGH is illogical, they are both hormones.
I don’t know which is ‘worse’ over the other. And I no longer care quite honestly. A bunch of guys took both, and we all cheered ourselves silly for all the long balls they hit for us.

Roger – You were a great pitcher until you decided to lengthen your career by using steroids, you should have bowed out gracefully. Now you are just being a stubborn, lying, cheating, steroid using horses a$$! The fight is over Roger and you are the only one that does not seem to realize it, even if you win this stupid lawsuit (which you won’t) the damage is done. You used the Roids and you and every fan in America know you used the Roids. The lawsuit you are chasing will not give you absolution or piece of mind so just give it up and let the issue die. You will have to come to terms with the fact that you and your lying have pissed all over a Hall of Fame career. But just let it go, everyone already knows the truth, except you!

Clemens is awesome. He is so arrogant that when he lies publicly it is tremendous comedy. It’s like watching a full grown 3-yr old lie. It is obvious he’s lying, he can’t keep his story straight, he isn’t nearly as smart as he thinks he is, he doesn’t understand logic or how facts reflect events, and he doesn’t understand how him saying something doesn’t make it fact.
His performance in front of congress was embarrassing….and funny as hell (as well as insulting to anyone with 2 or more synapses to rub together).

ffb.4 – Since you like to be a smarta$$, I’ll one-up you. The Triple Crown is not batting average, home runs, and RBI’s. It’s winning the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes. Limiting the topic to baseball, the Triple Crown is most associated with the stats you mentioned, however a “pitching Triple Crown” can also be achieved even though there really isn’t an official trophy. The categories consist of ERA, Strikeouts and Wins by a pitcher in a season. It is more common to win the pitching Triple Crown than the batting version; Jake Peavy won in 2007, Johan Santana in 2006. The most pitching Triple Crowns belong to Sandy Koufax, Grover Cleveland Alexander and my favorite ballplayer of all-time, Walter “The Big Train” Johnson (3 each).
I somewhat agree with you Jeff. HGH is a hormone, so technically it’s not a steroid, however it IS a PED (Player Enhancement Drug) which, with the evidence presented so far, seems that Roger did take. I agree that IF he did, he most likely did so to repair damage to his aging body/recover from injuries quicker. Which would explain a great deal of his career, especially his history of hamstring injuries and the results following. But, innocent until proven guilty. Let him run this through the courts til he doesn’t qualify for the baseball HOF anymore. Maybe the Veterans Committee will be the ones putting him in there, if at all.

The triple crown is batting average, home runs and RBIs. Based on your reasoning, if this idiot won the triple crown then he was most certainly using performance enhancers. My biggest problem with him was that he would only throw at batters (as was his trademark)when he was pitching in an AL ballpark, so the coward would not face the music. The old joke used to go: in a game of hide and seek, where was the last place you’d find Roger Clemens? On a national league pitchers mound.

I don’t think Roger Clemens did steroids. Maybe HGH to heal from injuries like Andy Pettitte, but he was so good he never needed to cheat. They claim Roger Clemens started using steroids in 1998, but he won the Triple Crown in 1997! So why start taking steroids AFTER a Cy Young season? Going 21-7 with a 2.05 ERA and 292 strike outs doesn’t look like the stats of a guy who needs to start taking steroids the next year. And in 1998 his stats were slightly worse than in 1997, so if he WAS on steroids in 1998 and he did what he did clean in 1997 then you would think he should have won 35 games in 1998, not 20.
Just like Pettitte. Andy Pettitte was a 20 game winner and 4 time World Series Champion before he took HGH. He took HGH because he was told it might heal his elbow and avoid surgery. He wasn’t cheating.
I think anabolic steroid users who were CHEATING and guys who took HGH thinking it was medicine should be treated differently.

Roger Clemens lost the benefit of the doubt a long time ago. Essentially his defense was that everybody else was lying and the HGH wasn’t for him but for his wife. Roger Clemens has been a lying sack of s*@t since his Red Sox days and probably long before then.
