Deep Thoughts: the Mets Offseason

Feb 3, 2010, 9:19 AM EDT

Deep thought:  when Darryl Strawberry is saying you’re messin’ up, you need to take a look in the mirror:

Darryl Strawberry was asked for his assessment of the Mets’ offseason changes Tuesday night, and he gave an answer that will be hard for anyone to argue.

“I’ll put it like this: It could’ve been better,” Strawberry said before he was among the honorees at the 30th annual Thurman Munson awards dinner in Manhattan. “You could’ve put a couple more pieces into that puzzle for them.”

That’s right, Omar, Fred and Jeff: you’re being called out for not fulfilling your potential by the man who wrote the book on the subject. Congratulations.

“Hmm…. maybe I can sign him to play first base….”

  2. Fred Wilpon - Feb 3, 2010 at 9:33 AM

Omar, you’re not allowed to sign anybody. Now go to your room!

Congrats on the triple oxymoron of “deep”, “thoughts”, and “Mets” in the same sentence.

Fred and Omar, the new odd couple, what team do you root for, I suspect it is not the Yankees which leads me to believe you are
supporters of a losing ball club.Whats up with that.

Darryl Strawberry is saying you’re messin’ up, ???
Where does it say that ……..

  6. BC aka Omar and Fred - Feb 3, 2010 at 10:52 AM

Is it not obvious what team I root for? Hey, when your team is a laughingstock, may as well pile on, I say. At least Mets tickets will be cheap on Stubhub this year….

Deep Thought: when you’re yearning for the days of Bobby Bonilla, Darryl Boston, and Howard Johnson, you know you need a new General Manager.

Yeah, I can understand laughing at yourself but you have Craig, Braves man, leading you to cheer against your team.Read Lupicas
Sunday column, Met fans have to at least believe until they are
eliminated form something. You have Reyes and Wright, your cornerstone guys coming back to prove something, You have Bay
and a healthy Santana…….. come on, at least have a light on for the fellas.
Cheap ticket,YEAH RIGHT COST ME A $150.00 TO CHECK OUT THE NEW BALL PARK.

Try hiring Bobby Bonilla and Howard Johnson to run the front office, it could not be any worse! Could it?

  10. Deese Knutts - Feb 3, 2010 at 1:26 PM

I wonder if there’s any way the Mets would be able to talk Dave Magadan out of retirement?

  11. BC - Feb 3, 2010 at 2:01 PM

I got Caesar’s Club tickets last September on Stubhub for $45 each. Once the team starts sucking pond water it’s party time as far as cheap tickets… There’s not a team out there whose fans dump tickets as badly when the Mets tank.

LMAO. Whos sucking power is stronger? The New York Mets or the supermassive black hole at the center of the universe?

Contrary to some sentiments, proper thought through articles still bring in visitors such as me.
