I noticed that the Stupor Bowl specializes in disinterring revenant rock bands for its halftime show (last year it was The Boss challenging his pacemaker battery for our delectation, if I recall aright - and no, I mean Springsteen, not Steinbrenner) - as if they though such senescent spectacles would keep us from going to take a leak, fix a media noche or, maybe in this case, a media tiempo (at least down here in Macondo, we'd build one of those before an Italian sub, and certainly before we'd throw a horsemeat and velveeta sandwich in the toaster oven), check the beer in the freezer to see if it's finally cold, go take another leak, fumble with the tab above the ziplock track on the huge bag of kettle cooked potato chips before mumbling "fuck it" to ourselves and ripping the mylar bastard open with our teeth, emptying another can of smokehouse almonds into the bowl, checking our email, taking yet another leak, and then sitting down to watch the revenant football players disinterred by the network for the halftime analysis.
.
Worst of all, I had the Patriots in six. Let that be a lesson to anyone else who thinks it's a good idea to place online bets with offshore bookies. What the hell, I never would have seen the money even if I'd won.
.
And anyway, it was a typically boring blowout Stupor Bowl. Remove the human interest part of it - cheering up the half million idiots who live below sea level in a tsetse fly infested swamp whose only upsides are the burned fish fillets and that weird honky-tweety music that only I can understand and their stadium that's almost as ugly as the Tropicana Dump - and what do you have? 31-17? Yawn. Next year, I'm gonna set up a lawn chair, pop the tab off a cold one, and watch mongrels shit in the alley all evening. Now that's entertainment.

My thoughts exactly, sir! The game last night was exciting, as the DR pulled out the victory! For me it was one of only two games that mattered yesterday (the other being Mexico/Puerto Rico). Bring on Spring Training!! I get to order my Reds Opening Day Tickets in 40 minutes!!
