Oh your comment is so on the money. Dead on. Damon has always been, still is, and will always be, nothing more than another greedy athlete who cares about NOTHING other than “show me the money.” Yeah sure, that describes a majority of athletes today, but Damon and Boras are so blatantly pathetic and greedy about it that it’s disgusting. You know, you want the money? Fine. I have no problem with that. But at least TRY to be a little classy about it. The moron could have had a two-year deal for $14 million or a one-year deal for $6 million from the Yankees but the arrogant duo arrogantly turned them down. Let’s see what he winds up getting now compared to those Yankee offers.

Of course, Boras is the jackass. Doesn’t anybody think that perhaps, just perhaps, Damon is the jackass and Boras is just doing what his client tells him? BTW, sports bloggers NEVER lie. Most of the quotes I’ve read don’t come from Boras. They come from sport bloggers and/or writers quoting unnamed sources close to the negotiations who had a wet drean. I’m no Boras fan, but I do kind of wish he’d handled my last divorce. Also to JBP, Boras was not fired by A-Rod, Boras played bad cop to A-Rod’s good cop with the Yankees. Can somebody, anybody explain to me how Boras got snookered on the A-Rod contract with the Yankees? Boras is a master, he fleeced the Yankees on the A-Rod deal and most Yankees fans think it was win for the Yankees. Chocolate long johns for everyone.

Let’s see – the Tigers send Granderson to New York and get some questionable value and”potential” player in the deal. New York in turn, now sees Damon as expendable and Boras (the genius he is) fails to see the writing on the wall and bluffs Damon out of the Yankees. Now Boras with his hat, ego and bs comes calling to Atlanta, Detroit, and Tampa selling his brand of snake oil ( an outfielder? – that can’t throw but he loves Steve Yzerman and the Red Wings). Yeah – Boras needs to be in Washington with the politicians. Oh yeah and Boras know the Red Wings / Tigers owner – Mike Illich. I bet Mike is a whole lot smarter than that.
And the Tigers traded Granderson because?

borASS is trying to play the braves vs the tigers to drum up some market for damon. we can all see through this facade. JD should have taken the 14 mil/2yrs for the Yanks. I don t believe either side is being honest, as that deal was a take it or leave it and they (damon/boras) thought it was a first offer negotiation ploy. What is to be learned by this is clubs arent looking for a guy that can hit some but sucks defensively. Tigers could use him but also know that he will be damn cheap by the end. Braves should just tell them to fly a kite as they know they are being used in an effort to save some value.

This whole sitauation has been embarrasing for Damon and Boras. I think there are a couple of moments where this thing took nasty turns:
Nasty Turn #1, ‘Don’t make an offer if it is not for at least $13M and three years’ – An agent can’t demand an offer. They can decline one, but they can’t tell a team what to do. Offensive and arrogant.
Nasty Turn #2, In a span of 48 hours the Yankees lost an opportunity to sign Matsui and Cameron, waiting for Damon and Boras. I believe the Yankess wanted Cameron in center (a right handed bat) Granderson in left (left handed) and Damon or Matsui at DH. And we would have avoided the signing of 15 additional outfielders. I believe they felt Boras was delaying them until their options dried up, not a bad strategy if they wait. But never in the best interest of a team when Boaras is involved.
Nasty Turn #3 – Boras said the Yankees did not make Damon an offer. OK, how well did it go over to say Cashman lied. Even Damon won’t back up his agent on that lie. And that is when things really got hard.
Nasty Turn #4 (yet to come) – Damon signs for less than $6M with no chance of reaching the WS.
This has been a classic winter in how to kill a potential Hall of Fame career. Damon needss the Yankees for any chance at the hall and he is peeing it away based on pride and a bad agent. Take $2M and have a chance at the hall. You will get more at bats (the Yankess score alot, there more at bats), the best line up protection in baseball (Texiera/A-Rod) and a great on base batter to keep pitchers honest (Jeter). STOP BEING STUPID.

I hope all of Boras’ non-A-list clients are paying attention to what’s happened to Damon (not that it’s not partially Johnny’s fault). If you’re not #1 or #2 on Boras’ list, you’re nowhere.
