He sulked and moped his way into an outright release in 2008. And while his splits weren’t nearly as distinct in 2009, he definitely played better once he got traded out of a situation that he didn’t want to be a part of.
I think he’s unemployed less because of Boras and more because GMS around the league know they’re bringing in a cancer if they hire this guy. He’s only going to give you those vaunted win shares if he’s starting, batting where he wants, and you’re in a pennant race. Good luck to whoever signs him.
