MLBAM's Bowman not running for governor of Michigan

Feb 15, 2010, 12:20 PM EDT

It was reported last week that Bob Bowman, the CEO of Major League Baseball Advanced Media, had filed papers to run for governor of Michigan.  Today, however, he says that he isn’t going to run.

My theory: His initial filing was the product of depression brought on by baseball withdrawal, but now that he’s heard that Clay Buchholz and Jon Lester are playing catch, the blues have been swept way.

Yeah, but it was Chief Thunderthud who uttered what is generally considered to be the finest callout in showbidness when he first yelled, “Cowabunga.”

He must have heard Hulk Hogan was running against him. In that case The voters in Michigan would have to go with “THE HULKSTER”

Probably just worried about getting the shit beaten out of him by Ted Nugent at the end of the first debate.
Speaking of stompin’ the blues, aren’t we a bit overdue already for Mike Celizic’s annual paean to the Jungian rebirth and resurrection archetype implicit in Spring Training? I just love Mike’s extenuated metaphors. Now there’s a writer after me own heart.
