Mark McGwire shows up at Spring Training

Feb 17, 2010, 10:14 AM EST

Derrick Goold reporting from Cardinals spring training:

Hitting coach McGwire greeted by cheers from fans and asks media: “Where do I go?”

Lucky Ken Rosenthal or Howard Bryant weren’t there. They would have told him exactly where he should go.

He should keep his mouth shut…that way his nose won’t grow.

    LaWussa too!

There is a reason why Rosenthal is not there. He barely reaches Big Mac’s knee.

Baseball has another scab that will not go away.
Just another way to say they need the money.
Have to wonder ,did the commis tell Mark ” This Buds for you “?

Oh dear, looks like Craig left the sanctimony spigot wide open and they’re already starting to fill his tub with moral sludge. A “scab that won’t go away,” eh? Bubba, there’s so much scar tissue on baseball these days that you can’t tell the adhesions from the cholesterol plaque from all those horrible horsemeat and velveeta sandwiches. Big Mac is a lot like having Uncle Thomas on the Supreme Court – he’s an embarrassment and always will be, but there he is. Deal with it and stop whinging already, people.

The fact that he was cheered by fans tells us exactly what is the score. Any more talk about the subject is not going to matter.

I’d LOVE to be able to tell the media where to go – the entire sanctimonious bunch of morons!

He’s the new batting coach, deal with it, and stop crying people. There are other issues in the world that you should be worrying about instead of Big Mac.

The country needs to worry about people and institutions with money and influence who are not required to play by the rules.
Just because a handful of “fan”atics are cheering doesn’t mean everything’s OK now! Baseball is the national JOKE – with tainted records, anti-trust exemptions, public funded facilities and legends who cheat to get in the record book.

Just heard that the Grand Jury has indicted Roger Clemens … sorry just kidding. I thought it would be fun to pretend to be a writer for HardBallTalk.
I did find it interesting that the reference to McGwire was as a hitting coach. Not as former steriod user etc etc. I’m actually very interested to see how he does as the Cards hitting coach. He may be quite good at it …
