On second thought, let's not get too excited about what Francoeur says

Feb 25, 2010, 3:47 PM EST

That thing I said earlier about being encouraged by Francouer saying he’s going to work on his walk rate?  Ted Berg brings to my attention the fact that Frenchie blew this jazz in 2006, 2007 2008 and 2009 (the sleuth work was done by Kyle S at Work over at BTF).

So never mind. You may now return to your regularly-scheduled Jeff Francoeur bashing.  Or at least I will.

Hey – the 5th time is the charm!

So it’s not a lack of will, simply a lack of talent. That’s forgivable, Frenchy. I spend every spring wishing I was good at baseball, too.

The best part is that you selectively blocked it out.

I guess I’m just an optimist when it comes to Frenchie. ;-)

So I guess if Francouer does like he did in 2006 .260/29/103 with an OBP of 293 all the stat heads will be upset and down on him?

So its just another case of Frenchie being Frenchie?

  7. MVD - Feb 25, 2010 at 4:57 PM

Um, yeah, cuz getting on base in less than 30% of your plate appearances still sucks. Should we commend him for being Willy Taveras with power?

Well, he is consistent. Nice research!

Well, we still have Murphy to be excited about. It’s going to be a great season.
