If Jorge is so great, why don’t any Yankee pitchers want to pitch to him? As a Sox fan i could never figure out why they didn’t tell those pitchers to shut up and throw what jorge said to throw. just sayin’…..

Jorge goes into this season as the starter and we have Cervelli behind him which is good. Nick Johnson is only signed for one season as the DH and that would be a perfect fit for Posada. His hitting is still better than average, he could even give Cervelli a rest every now and then next year.

Cervelli is the future….backup catcher. If Montero can catch adequately enough, he’ll be the starter. Otherwise, it’ll be Romine. Cervelli is never going to hit enough to be more than a (defensively outstanding) backup.

It’s not Jorge that I’m concerned about. Who will be the #2 catcher come April. Molina was dreadful most of the season, too out of shape to hit or run. Cervelli is the future and he should get at least 50 starts this year!

That’s all well & good, but what are the Yankee’s considering. I personally like Jorge, but he is far from one of the top catchers at throwing runners out. It seems teams try to run on him. I look for him to play alot of DH down the road.

Put it this way, Since 1996 how many catchers would you rather have had than Posada.
Piazza and Pudge, thats it. In the last 5 years, you can definately add Mauer and maybe Martinez but thats it..

No reason Posada should retire as long as he stays healthy. He’ll remain the Yankees’ starting catcher as long as (a) he’s not being outperformed by one of the younger guys, (b) isn’t a regular on the DL, and (c) doesn’t demand more years or $$ on contracts than the Yankees want to give him.

Jorge, the Borg have implanted a small electrode just behind your right ear. Every time you put that mask on, it transmits a prerecorded series of obsessions and corny sound bits to your brain. Take a pair of needle nosed pliers and have your hair stylist pull it out next time you go in to have your head waxed. You will be amazed at how much more inviting a summer of billfishing in the Gulf Stream looks to you.
