Although I disagree that all Japanese players aren't good persay, they do seem to have short lived shelf life. Hideo Nomo would be case #1. Irabu looked good but most likely fell under pressure in NY, especially by himself. Daisuke has Okajima and a solid group around him. He will be the best Japanese pitcher to cross the Pacific. He should have a better year than last, and for the record, I agree with Foges. 2.90 ERA is sick! His Whip most likely leaves a lot to be desired, but last I checked they don't go by how many runners on base, they go by how many crossed the plate, and Daisuke is clutch when it comes to battling bases loaded with nobody out!
Go Sox!

Nasty Boy
Dice-K in 2008
18-3 and ERA 2.90
Maybe the 18 doesn't mean as much playing for the Sox and getting the run support, but a 2.90 ERA in the American League?!? That says something...

Hey jerk-off, I guess I'll have to explain this to a narrow minded liberal lunatic such as yourself. The real point here is their competition isn't as tough as here in the U.S. Our players come from all over the world. Contrary to your statement about blacks, latins , and white boys. Now scumbag , who has the racist views ? Please don't reply , you've done too much damage to your ignorant self already. Let me guess, your a Red Sucks fan, if not , you should be, you moron.

What an idiotic remark. Plenty of pitchers have had an ERA worse than 5.76 in the history of MLB. Do you conclude that their entire ethnic heritage can't "do well against Major League hitters"? What's your next gem of logic? Blacks aren't smart enough to play quarterback? Latins are too "excitable" to manage? White boys can't jump?
What an idiot.

Who cares, as I said previously , they hosed themselves when they overpaid for him. you can count on one hand how many Asain pitchers do well against major league hitters. That 5.76 era will not be too far off of what he'll do in the future. Ask the Yankee's if they would do the Irabu deal over again ? That deal made them look stupid. The Sox would never admit it , but I'll bet they wouldn't do their deal over.
