“There’s definitely interest there,” Marquis said of the Mets five months ago. “We’ll see what direction they want to go.”
That is about as meaningless a statement as I’ve ever heard.
*I don’t recall ever hearing a statement by a player saying ‘no chance I play for those guys’.
*No one ever crosses off a NY team from their list.
*Even as an affirmative statement, it was weak. If he really wanted to play for the Mets, it would’ve been more along the lines of ‘I loved the Mets as a kid, and I’d love to play for them, I’ll even take a discount’.

Who cares about this guy?? He would have been a 4 or 5 starter at best. Let Niese get ths spot! The kid is a less expensive alternative.
