Pujols, Holliday scratched from Cardinals' lineup

Mar 10, 2010, 12:40 PM EDT

After sitting out two games with back soreness Albert Pujols was slated to return to the lineup this afternoon, but instead he was a late scratch. Pujols did take batting practice before the game, so obviously the injury isn’t particularly serious.
Matt Holliday will also join Pujols on the bench after he “felt something in his rib cage,” according to manager Tony La Russa. Presumably the “something” he “felt in his rib cage” was soreness or, I suppose, basically just anything else besides “ribs.”
