Great Moments in Cuban League History

Mar 11, 2010, 12:15 PM EDT

This ceases to be interesting after the first few seconds, but those first few seconds are a lot of fun.
Just one question: where’s the help from the shortstop and the second baseman? Dude comin’ after the pitcher with a bat and the waters just part.

I’ve heard of pitchers who don’t trust their middle infield defense, but this is ridiculous.

But then at :36 in, an Orange-White player takes a coupla good wacks at the Blue batter with a bat of his own.

‘Roid rage, obviously. That video’s all the evidence we need to write an article by deadline.

Doing what you would do if some angry dude is running toward you waving a bat.

Watching the 2B run towards the batter then right past him… that’s hilarious.
“I’m gonna stop this guy. Wait, he’s got a bat? F-this!”

Just like the fight in Anchorman.
“Your head has got to be on a swivel out there.”
“Where did you get that hand grenade?”
All that was missing was Ben Stiller in a bad mustache leading the Spanish speaking news team.

This explains why El Jefe has risen from his hospital bed and is beginning to reassert control. I think he was fine with the liberalization undertaken by lil’ Raul, but when he saw baseball manners disintegrating he figured he’d better roll back the revisionists mas rapidamente.
And of course that made the Marielitos, Elianitos, domino dinosaurs and Fritos down on Calle Ocho snark their cafe cubano right up the backs of their noses.
