Lowell gets some work in at first

Mar 15, 2010, 11:18 AM EDT

Down in Fort Meyers, Mike Lowell will be getting a start against the Orioles this afternoon.  As will Adrian Beltre. How? Mike Lowell is starting at first base. It’s his first action at first since he played in the minors in 1998.

Who knows how he feels about it, but whether this is to hone his skills as a super-ute or to showcase his versatility for a trade, Lowell is going to have to get used to this kind of thing.

Lowell needs to first shave that ridiculous facial hair if he wants to get traded. The first thing I think when seeing him is, He’s either Blind, Dumb, or both.

Read something about this a few days ago, I think Lowell gave the standard “help the team” and “want to contribute” answers when asked what he thought.

He’s doing you, and all other artistically sensitive types, a favor with that beard. Trust me on this. What he would have done if he had come up with the Borg instead of being traded to the Feesh as an EYP I can’t tell you.
KR: he’s a big boy. He’s fought off the Big C. Aside from taking “Elian Gonzalez Protest Day” off of work once, when his brethren shut down Little Havana for a day and inflicted upon the local merchants a few million dollars of lost sales and thereby made himself something of a folk hero here in Macondo, he has a pretty reasonable take on things. He really would like to help the team, because he’s a professional. He most likely would prefer to help another team, because he’s a human being. But he’ll do what he has to and he’ll play every moment on the field like he means it, because he’s one of those guys who really does.

Love me some Mike Lowell and hope he gets traded because I’d prefer to see him play well for someone else than play little for my Sox.
