Sounds like the criticisms voiced before 2005. I like this team's balance. Quentin was having an MVP season until he broke his wrist, and injury that really takes a couple years to recover from.

Come on, calling Andruw Jones a "wasted promise" is overly harsh. Sure the guy never adjusted to the breaking ball low and away, but he was a God in Center Field for us for a decade. And he wasn't a completely terrible hitter, just couldn't hit that damn ball low and away.

The entire problem with the sox last year was their reliance on the long ball, we don't need it to win. I'd rather have the speed of Pierre and a good defense than a waddling strike out machine like thome. Also, don't ignore alexei ramirez who has power potential. If Carlos Quentin is healthy (which he should be considering he has the screws out of his wrist) then I see this team finishing no worse than 2nd place.

Not too worried about Rios - last year looks like an aberration and all the projections have him returning to useful production. You're right about the rest of the DHydra though. Strange and confusing offseason that could have implications for the jobs of Guillen, Williams, batting coach Greg Walker and assistant GM Rick Hahn.
Third place sounds right, although I think they're close to even with the Tigers, with the Twins having a clear edge.

...and now there's a decent chance that Mark Kotsay and Omar Vizquel will be getting at bats from the DH slot.

Oh please please please put Mr. career 83OPS+, aka all glove and no stick, at DH. They might as well flip a coin between Det and MN for the division if this happens.
