Don't know about you, but I've visited Boston many times and always had a great time. Regardless, you should be aware that the single largest landholder in Boston is Harvard University & there could hardly be a greater bastion of liberality than them. That is to say your generalization, like almost all generalizations is patently false. Boston has no more (or fewer) bigots than any other US metro area. Do I really need to remind you, a resident of the LA area, of where some of the worst race riots of the 20th century happened? The ironic thing is that you call Boston as a whole bigotted, which is itself a prejudicial statement on your part. Pretty funny really.

Sorry, I get Cano and Cabrera confused. Either or, both guys are talented and were home grown.
And they never gave Wang a chance to recover...Wang 19 wins for two straight seasons? Even with his bad 09 season and his rookie season, he still has 67.9% winning percentage.. For the record, I looked at these starting pitchers, this staff that Yankee fans seem to think is better than the Sox's rotation, and isn't this interesting???...
I checked and of the Yankees pitching staff, not one of the starting pitchers can say that they got 19 wins in consecutive years... Not CC Sabathia, Andy Pettitte, AJ Burnett, and Joba Chamberlain ( I didn't even bother to look up Hughes's record as he probably doesn't even have 19 wins yet) True, Sabathia, Pettitte, and Burnett have been relatively close, all have been pitching for as long or longer but can't compare the win % or the consistency. I know Wang's been hurt, OK, but give him a chance to heal. Trust me, we'll be seeing Daisuke Matsuzaka (someone per Yankee fans that we should have gotten rid of long ago, in other words our own little Hideki Irabu) out-performing half of the Yankees pitching staff as far as #'s go by the end of the year,
Oh, and they also got rid of the WS MVP! Yeah, get rid of the guy who if he wasn't there and a replace ment (say, Randy Winn) was batting .143, could be the difference between Championship # 26 and 27...But lets get rid of him... At least we tried to get rid of Lowell AFTER a few years and injuries later... Makes no sense!

Thank you , STXDRAINO. This is what I've been talking about all along. All this BS about Red Sux, and Spankees... Its not necessary. I guess there are people that have nothing better to do on a Thursday afternoon than to try to justify their bland existance on this planet by talking trash to people they don't even know. I just hate when it gets started because I feel obligated to defend my team (and a good number of the other fans, not all of them, though) Let's just enjoy yet another thrilling season of the greatest sports rivalry ever

First of all, the combined salaries of Lackey and Beckett will still be less than the contents of the Brink's truck dumped at the feet of C.C. Sabathia. These deals will still return plenty of bang for the bucks.
Secondly, I don't believe RCS could fit all 27 championship trophies in his mother's basement, where he obviously spends entirely too much time surfing the net for free porn when he is not behaving like a complete idiot on the message boards.

100% agree with you. Some of my best friends are Sox fans, and I am a Yankees fan raised in NY but live in CT now.
There will always be a$$hole fans that enjoy bickering with eachother more than the game itself. It will never change - I just read these message boards to get a laugh at how insane some people are. Today I had a lot of laughs.
Regarding Beckett - Sox did a nice job leveraging his desire to play on a team that can catch fire and win. He may have gotten more $ elsewhere but Beckett wants to win first. Gotta admire him for that. 4 years is a good length; I think they made a mistake with the 5th year of the Lackey contract. I see the Beckett signing as a win-win for both sides. As a Yankees fan I am happy with the signing, as I think he won't be as effective by years 3-4 and that will benefit NY.

Hmm, anti-Sox and Yanks comments, so I think that removes Glastonbury/W Hartford. I'm guessing Wethersfield or maybe Rocky Hill?

First of all , get your facts straight, Cano hasn't gone anywhere, and no one said anything about the Blue Jays, although I can always hope they also pass the sux. Wang wasn't resigned because the Yankees don't think he will be what he was. They try not to make stupid moves like Epstein did with the Pillsbury Doughboy (dice-k )I'm tired of giving the sux so much time and print, they don't deserve it. Keep third place in mind, and remember where you heard it.

The problem with Bosux fans is they think if they wish it long and hard enough it will be come true. NY ,and TB are better teams, and your going to find that out during the season. They both improved in the winter, and your team took a step back. you have no power, the pitching is suspect, that's why their picked third. You people have a hard time facing reality.
I am from New England but now live in the US Virgin Islands. When I read news updates regarding the Red Sox or the Yankees, I am genuinely interested in the story. Then I scan down to find some fan from one area has written something demeaning to a fan from the other (both sides equally guilty). And I am angered. I am as passionate in following my Red Sox as any fan, but it doesn't make me stupid. I know plenty of Yankee fans who are passonate about their team, but they are not studpid. Can't we just recognize baseball talent where ever it exists, cheer for our favorite teams, and eliminate the personal insults from the conversation?

First off, not all Red Sox fans live directly in Boston. What about Mainers? They're ALL rabid BoSox fans, they're not pricks. I grew up in central CT where its pretty much split up the middle. I'm not a douche about my BoSox... By the way, New York fans aren't any better.
27 championships? What, you want a cookie or a medallion? Like you actually were out there for all championships, and brought them home to NYC (let along ALIVE during all 27) - its like the Montreal Canadians for hockey.(Aside from 86 and 93, where Patrick Roy pretty much willed a lower seeded team to the Cup, they haven't done anything!) Sure they have a bunch of championships, but what have they done lately?
It isn't difficult to win a bunch of championships if there aren't that many teams and the talent pool is skewed... My question to you is, what has the Yankees done lately, other than buy the 2009 championship with the 3 best free agents in the market? I'd like to see the Yankees win with home grown talent, but I guess since Jeter they can't have a farm system worth talking about. The Yanks got rid of most of the young talent that was home grown (Wang, Cano, etc) At least the Sox develop talent (Ellsbury, Pedroia, Youk, Lester, Buccholz, and Paps) and found diamonds in the rough (Big Papi, Mike Lowell, etc)
At the end of the day, both New York and Red Sox fans should all shut up and just watch the season. Everyone talks all this trash like they're someone special when in all reality all I'm reading is bragging (which people shouldn't do unless THEY actually accomplished something). Let's just appreciate and respect the rivalry and have a good season!
Go Sox! (and they will NOT be 3rd in the division. There's no way the Blue Jays keep up, the Orioles still have too much raw young talent, and the Rays don't have the consistency either. 2008 was a fluke. Its either the Sox or the Caulks... (you know what I mean!)
They will finish in first or second. Mark Fecteau's words, they're VERY rarely wrong.

I do recall a certain police department being full of them and oh wait, didn't your justice system let a double murderer walk.
I live close to Angels Stadium where I've seen many moronic sux fan get their ass kicked , not only in the parking lot , but in the stands.Without a doubt the most boisterous , nasty bunch of asses I've ever seen. They make all the rest of the visiting teams seem like altar boys. That's only one of many reasons. That whole organization is screwed up, with a malignant dwarf running it. I hope they finish last. As I said earlier , they're picked third by Sports Illustrated, (do you think they know something about Becketts arm?) I hope their wrong, anywhere from fourth to last would be great.

As for Becket, he may be thinking that when he is 33 he can get a new deal for a few more years and rake in another free agency signing.
