Jimmy Rollins was scratched from the home opener due to a right calf strain, now Jayson Werth has been removed from the game due to an undisclosed injury while running down to first base.
Costly day for the Phillies.
UPDATE: Werth’s injury is reportedly “left hip soreness.”

This entire season, going back to spring training, has been a nonstop series of orthopedic self-immolations. Damned if I can remember another year – anywhere but in Flushing, anyway – where the casualty count has been climbing like the Great Kanto Earthquake redux.

This is the time for the network hacks to strike with a hot iron and come up with a TV series about a sports doctor – you know, a Dr. Andrews clone with an eager and idealistic young associate, preferably female so the networks can break new ground showing qualified women handling…um…damaged males.
