Simple yes or no. Should a person have to pay for damage that they cause to another individual’s property? It doesn’t look that complicated to me.

What don’t you understand about personal property? It is OK with you I suppose, if I were to go into your home and trash it so you can repair, replace and otherwise clean it up. The man signed a contract and did not follow up with his responsibility. Just because the landlord may have money, doesn’t mean that you can cause damage to his property and then ask him to fix it. Bradley is a dope and an anti social deadbeat who thinks everyone owes him something. I expect he gets it all from MOMMA! He should be made to pay all damages if found that he caused them, and to pay for the clean up of the property which he rented. It doesn’t matter how much money the other party has or may have.

“According to court documents, Bradley disappeared on Oct. 12 and stopped making rent payments. He has reportedly been sent letters demanding his payments and never replied or paid. He signed the lease on April 1, 2009.”

The rent was $15k a month, from what I just found in the Chicago Tribune.

Hmmmm? Is it me, or does this guy become hated by everyone who crosses his path? Well of course besides his mom, who was insane enough to put Milton Bradley on his birth certificate… I guess the apple doesn’t fall too far does it?

Maybe the kind that rents out places that cost $180,000 a year? If you shelled out $180k, would you be expecting K-Mart?
It’s interesting to see how many people have an opinion without a lot of information. MB is claiming untimely notification. IF his lease ended after the season, then he has a pretty good claim. To a 3rd party, I’d have to wonder why the landlord wasn’t up there the next day for an examination, preferrably with MB or his rep standing next to me.

Easy target in this case. I have had multiple landlords try to keep my security deposits on sometimes shaky and sometimes absolutely no basis. M.B. is rich and in another city far away. I’m sure the landlord was shocked to be contested and then counter-sued.
BTW, hardly a “rockstar” amount of damages, and I think it’s pretty cool that M.B. counter-sued for an amount that represents the amt he was sued for minus legitimate damages. Like every other time he’s made a mistake, M.B. decides what he was responsible for and said “my bad.” Everyone wants to pile on Milton but for some reason I like him. His teammates seem to like him too. I hope that he does at least a trade-deadline to end of season stint in Boston someday just because it would make Dan Shaugnessy’s head explode.

Or, you know, maybe Milton didn’t do anything wrong and a profiteering landlord figured it’d be an easy settlement case given Bradley’s reputation in Chicago.
No but totally, I mean, let’s just assume that the guy we didn’t like did something wrong. That’s the American way, right?

Maybe it’s simply that Milton is a slob and the landlord is trying to soak a MLB player for extra money.
