I might be a die hard Yankee fan but I'll fess up, I like Wakefield. He gave up Boone's HR in the ALCS in 03 and that alone would have destroyed a lot of guys but he took it like a man. In 04, he volunteered to go in for relief in game three of the ALCS after the game was clearly out of hand. He forfeited his start for game four but saved what was left of the bull pen. The Nation likes to point to Roberts steal as the turning point in 04 series but it was really Wakefield taking one for the team. I think he is and always has been one of the stand up guys in baseball. His effectiveness might have faded but he's still all class and a WCVl .. wiley crafty veteran.
Matsuzaka, .. I can't wait for the Yankees to get a crack at him. What is it with him, .. high risk low reward? No, no that was last year. I remember; dominant pitching and run prevention, .. yeah that's it. I always get those two BS marketing slogans mixed up. No matter how you slice it the real strategy is to keep the Nation coming to the park regardless of how poor a team gorilla boy assembles.

Let the party begin ...... Lets watch this bum get shelled , like the rest of their so-called run prevention pitching staff . He may make a few decent starts , but it won't take him long to get his era around six . I'll never forget a saying I heard years ago , " The leopard sheds the fur , but never the spots " Good Luck , Pillsbury Doughboy (dice-k )
