Roy Oswalt collects 1,500th career strikeout

oswalt hat tip.jpgAs noted by Brian McTaggart of MLB.com, Astros starter Roy Oswalt collected the 1,500th strikeout of his career Thursday against the Reds.  Here’s a look at where he stands on the active list:

1. Jamie Moyer – 2355
2. Javier Vazquez – 2271
3. Andy Pettitte – 2172
4. Tim Wakefield – 1995
5. Kevin Millwood – 1836
6. Johan Santana – 1761
7. Livan Hernandez – 1725
8. Chan Ho Park – 1666
9. CC Sabathia – 1618
10. Roy Halladay – 1528
11. Barry Zito – 1520
12. Roy Oswalt – 1500
13. A.J. Burnett – 1489
14. Tim Hudson – 1413

As for the all-time list?  Well, he ranks 171st, right behind Goose Gossage (1502 career strikeouts) and Paul Derringer (1507).  Oswalt, 32, entered Thursday’s start against the Reds with a 2-2 record, 1.00 WHIP, 2.42 ERA and 21/5 K/BB ratio through four starts this season.
