Part of Ringolsby's anti-A-Rod screed gets axed

Apr 30, 2010, 4:18 PM EDT

You know that “A-Rod represents everything that is wrong with baseball” column written by Tracy Ringolsby from this morning?  Yeah, a whole bunch of it has been removed or changed by FOX, some of it for being wrong, some of it, apparently, for rubbing people the wrong way.

Lisa Swan at SubwaySquawkers has the details.

(receptionist): “Good morning, Mr. Murdoch’s office”
(me):” May I please speak to Rupert?”
    (Murdoch): “Hello, this is Rupie”
(me): “This is Len. Leave ARod alone and I’ll subscribe to WSJ for 12 weeks for 99 cents per week”
    (Murdoch): “OK”

I never get the big deal about A-Rod slapping at Arroyo’s hand to jar the ball loose. Why can a runner knock the stuffing out of the catcher or even slap/stiff arm him but A-Rod can’t do it to the first baseman?
And why is this considered like a great crime? Eddie Stanky kicked the ball out of Phil Rizzuto’s glove in a WS game in the ’50’s. He wasn’t called out either.
I don’t like the way A-Rod opted out, but Ringolby’s hat is clearly on too tight with some of his ridiculous comments/connections. Maybe A-Rod didn’t give little Tracy an interview or something and that’s why newspaper circulation figures are down, which in turn has hurt the company’s that produces paper and in turn hurt’s the guys that chop down the trees.

Ah, you can’t knock the ball out of the first baseman’s hand for the same reason you can’t run into the first baseman – each team would need about 15 first basemen for each game.
GAM (that’s God almighty for you ignorant YanPee fans), you’re so dumb that you only could be a YanPee fan.
    Cheers, little fella.

The fact that you have to “rebut” using immature names to make a point makes your, well, point lost.

Thanks very much for the linkage!

Next thing you know, FAUX will be sending one of their bottomless stash of hack lawyers to the Supreme Court to argue that their sports commentary shouldn’t be forced to be any fairer, more accurate or even a little bit less preposterous than their political and economic commentary usually is. For the time being, though, I guess it must be cheaper just to have some in-house hatchet man trim the bullshit. I imagine that means they’re going to press with their annual stockholder’s report this week.
Ringolsby ought to take a vacation till after the shareholder’s meeting and let Glenn Beck handle the sports commentary. I mean, could he be any worse at it than Rush was?
