@BC: Someday he’ll start an interleague game against the Yankees or Red Sox and then the rest of the country can learn about him. Until then, Latos is a 22 year old kid that could be the next Padres ace. He began last season in Class A Fort Wayne, moved up to AA San Antonio, and then skipped AAA altogether when he got called up to the bigs by the Padres. San Diego shut him down before the 2009 ended to save his arm. They plan to do the same again in 2010, again to preserve his arm. I’m really hoping I get to see one of his starts at Petco Park this year.

Yeah it is the Padres, but everyone really should take a step back to appreciate how close we were to having a second perfect game this season. Both would have come from teams that very few people care about. Living in San Diego it really is a shame seeing PetCo so empty…

It is strange that Sanchez has lost twice to Latos this year and both games were 1-0. And they are scheduled to face off again in 5 days.

Latos also drove in the only run of the game and the one hit was a infield single off his glove with the runner barely beating the throw.
It’s going to be a real shame if the Padres are contending at the end of the year and he hits his inning limit and gets sat down for the rest of the season.
