Tim Tebow puts on a show in batting practice … like, for real

May 13, 2010, 9:21 PM EDT

tebow smiling.jpgWant more Tim Tebow news?  Of course you do.

The former University of Florida quarterback is working out this offseason at Memphis University School, away from the distractions of Florida and Colorado, and this week he was asked to take batting practice with the high school’s baseball team.  How’d it go?  You can probably guess.  According to Ron Higgins of The Commercial Appeal, Tebow hit 12 of 15 pitches he saw out of the park.

“The kids were just awed by how far he hit the ball,” said Tebow’s Memphis-based agent, Jimmy Sexton. “The
best thing about Tim is he thinks he’s just another guy and acts that
way. He’s oblivious to everything going on around him. He doesn’t think
he’s a big deal.

We’ll leave the analysis of his football skills to our good friends at ProFootballTalk, but there’s no doubting that the kid is an athlete.  He was chosen 25th overall by the Broncos in last month’s NFL Draft and can even flash a little pop with a baseball bat.

Oh Jesus. Not Tebow here too.
Even God has to be sick of his self-promoting ass.

  2. jason - May 13, 2010 at 9:55 PM

once he fails in the NFL(AND HE WILLL!!) maybe he can hack it in the MLB

  3. Cris - May 13, 2010 at 9:56 PM

Promoting himself? In what way? He was in his agents hometown to workout and improve his craft and not to promote himself dumbass.. He was just accomodating those kids and he is now showing off.. He could have chosen to stay and train in Florida but he chose Jimmy Sexton’s hometown to shy away from the spotlight and focus on improving his skill.. I guess your a Vols fan and i can undrerstand why your hating Tim Tebow because ur team never won against Tebow tsk tsk..

  4. Jason - May 13, 2010 at 10:18 PM

This guy may or may not succeed in the NFL, that remains to be seen. The one FACT when it comes to Tebow is that he is a good person. This guy is a devout Christian who will be one of those players on the United Way commercials and making real contributions to the community. He will give back. At least off the field…

I don’t give a rip about college sports. “Dumbass”.

  6. Pandamonium - May 13, 2010 at 11:44 PM

You must be a rabid pro choice baby killer then. It’s the only other way to explain your hate for that handsome, handsome man.

Are you serious? I’m pretty indifferent on Tebow (in fact I think he’s one of the most overrated college football players of all-time) but I don’t see how you can call him a self-promoter in this case.
Tebow is an amazing athlete though, he probably could have been great at any sport he chose to play.

  9. Over Rated - May 14, 2010 at 12:04 AM

This may be the most ridiculous, stupid post I have ever seen on the site. He’s a “rabid pro choice baby killer” if he doesn’t like Tebow? No doubt the most improper, unwarranted attack on someone voicing an opinion. Just for the record, I live in Jacksonville, in the heart of “Timmymania”, and I don’t like him either. And who gives a f**k if he’s handsome? Please take your self important, right wing, holier than thou ass back to your double wide, and stop your hateful posts.

Dude…wasn’t that an obvious Troll post? Just walk away.

  11. Over Rated - May 14, 2010 at 12:21 AM

Troll Post, Ha! You are right, of course. But the ignorance of that post got to me for a second. Thanks!

jason you must know nothing about football if you think someone (tebow) with that kind of athletic ability will fail.

  14. Greg C - May 14, 2010 at 3:11 AM

“you must know nothing about football if you think someone (tebow) with that kind of athletic ability will fail”
No he will do fine as a second string kickoff returner.

  15. Majed - May 14, 2010 at 5:38 AM

It is amazing to me how much people can hate a guy who does nothing but positive things…Perhaps they are miserable in their own pathetic lives so they take it out on someone who is happy…
I don’t think that he will be a particularly good QB in the NFL but only time will tell for sure…

  16. Florida727 - May 14, 2010 at 6:08 AM

Majed is absolutely right. The only people who hate Tim are those whose own lives are in such disarray that they want everyone else’s, including Tebow’s, to fail JUST AS THEIRS HAS. Whether he succeeds in the NFL or not, he’s already succeeded in the eyes of The One that maters most to him (Tim). That’s why he’s a winner, and you’re a loser.
Besides, I doubt your stupid, pathetic post really bothers Tim. He won’t even read it. Hope for a least a minute or two, as you re-read your own post to feel better about yourself, it gives you some sort of perverted pleasure, because TIM DOESN’T CARE ABOUT YOUR HATER POST.

Tebow is obnoxious with his holier than thou attitude. Those that generally preach the most have the most to hide. Next thing you know he’ll be getting busted with a gay male prostitute. Yes, he’s a natural athlete but hitting batting practice isn’t close to hitting a gametime cureveball. I liked Tebow his first yr. as a Gator but then he became obnoxious. Still a virgin? My ass..

  18. God - May 14, 2010 at 7:52 AM

And on the 8th day thou shall chargeth little kids $60 for an autograph. And so it was.

  19. Smitty - May 14, 2010 at 8:24 AM

Tim Tebow is a great role model for youth, period. Whether at batting practice in some remote town in Tennessee or in the mountain towns of Colorado, his presence will always be honored because he has the FAVOR OF THE KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS ON HIS LIFE!!!! I am sure that Tim would not be offended by your comments but would instead pray for GOD’s favor to rest on your life as well so you can be at peace with yourself and your neighbors.

  20. wgbjr - May 14, 2010 at 8:35 AM

I hopd you won’t mind if about 50 guys in Nashville TN start praying for your life and that one day you will be presented to truth of THE Savior, yes the very same person to whom TT owes his future. Please know you do not anger those of us who call Jesus Lord and Savior. We truly wish God’s Blessing on you.

  21. Bama Mike - May 14, 2010 at 8:38 AM

Jen, sounds like you spent most of your time in school on your back. Good job cupcake – we need more like you.

  22. Gill Frierson - May 14, 2010 at 8:45 AM

    Teboo is sooo overrated

  23. not a broncos/gators fan - May 14, 2010 at 8:46 AM

haters! Tebow is a purebred athlete. may not be the best QB, but there is no denying he is a beast.

  24. Jason - May 14, 2010 at 8:58 AM

I sense ALOT of jealousy here. Everyone with negative comments are just jealous because they don’t possess the talent that he does, oh and not to mention the mulitmillion dollar contract and endorsements. I have no issues with the guy. He’s a great role model for kids and I hope God blesses him and he has great success.

  25. Cam Winston - May 14, 2010 at 9:01 AM

The Tebow haters probably come in two sizes. 1., the folks who simply think he was over-exposed, especially on ESPN. That is understandable, I suppose….provided that they agree that Lebron, the Yankees, Red Sox, UConn and Syracuse receive about 800% more exposure than they deserve. If so, I’ll agree. 2., and probably more numerous, are the lock-step libs who don’t like him because he broke one of the lefty commandments, “thou shalt not be pro-life”. Oh, and talking about religion OUT LOUD. You know, cuz that’s intolerant & all that.
