This morning I recorded a Yankees-Twins series preview with Ted Berg for SNY and it’s a slow news day here at Hardball Talk, so why not watch it …
New York and Minnesota are tied for the second-best record in baseball at 22-12, so it should be a good series. I’m actually feeling oddly optimistic about the Twins’ chances despite their being 16-50 against the Yankees under Ron Gardenhire.

As well as you should. The Twins are also facing the shakier/inconsistent part of the Yankees starting rotation (Burnett, Pettitte and Mitre.)

So much for that optimistic feeling . This team is tough , they seem to pick each other up all the time . At the start of the season I said their only weakness was Gardner , well he made me eat crow on that statement .They still have a few injuries , at full strength they’re going to be tough to handle . It always comes down to pitching, and they have four consistent starters . If Vazquez comes around , it will be no contest .
