Sure, .. law of averages, .. nobody is perfect is some of the explanation. But, the root cause was Rivera hadn’t pitched in about two weeks. He was clearly rusty as he walked the first batter he faced.
Mariano Rivera usually gives up at least one mid season uncharacteristic long ball. Nothing new here.

The surprise to me is that it didn’t happen last year, when I owned Rivera. He may not be the best in a particular year, but he’s the best, period.

Remember, it’s all about the Yankees. The HBT computer must have gone to its Yankee default setting.
In addition to the Bizarro Rivera, today also saw the Bizarro Joba in operation. It is Known Fact (Not To Be Challenged Ever) that the real Chamberlain-Rivera combo Cannot Be Defeated.
BTW, I don’t have a dog in this fight, as I don’t own Rivera, Chamberlain, or Kubel. The unexpected win for Blackburn is appreciated, though.
