Jimmy Rollins should be back in the lineup tonight

May 17, 2010, 12:15 PM EDT

jimmy rollins headshot phillies.jpgThe Phillies are saying that Jimmy Rollins will be evaluated today and, assuming everything checks out, he’ll be be activated before tonight’s game against the Pirates.

Rollins had started out well before straining his calf. His replacements — Juan Castro and Wilson Valdez — have been adequate at the plate and good in the field, but the team will certainly be happy to have Rollins back.  Of course, they sport the largest lead of any first place team in baseball right now, so it’s not like they’re desperate or anything.

Ahhh, infield chemistry will be regained finally. Although these backup guys performed well above expectations defensively, it’ll be nice to see Chase get the ball where he knows it’ll be, Howard will, the entire team gets better defensively when Jimmy’s around.

Now we still await Happ to return………………..

While Shane (at worst) held his own in leadoff, and the Juan-Valdez tandem at short performed well enough to assuage concerns over short, it’ll be nice to see J-Roll get back in there and get back in the groove before the slumming BooSux come into town.

I hope you’re being sarcastic about Shane… d00d’s second in RBIs in the NL to wonkey-pinky’d Ethier. Shane has been raking.

That’s why I said “at worst.”
