Trade Ka'aihue for Reid Brignac (SS-TB)... With Hosmer tearing it up in the minors he could get the call late next season. Brignac gives you a long term solution at SS and the Rays need help at the DH/1B position with Carlos Pena set to leave in free agency this off-season. Brignac doesn't have much value to the Rays because they have Zobrist/Bartlett in the majors and Tim Beckham on his way. I'll take Dayton Moore's position to show him how its done.

1. gordon is a below average defensive 3B, he does not "do a good job there". he absolutely needs to be in LF--and on the MLB roster ASAP.
2. re: posednik--the royals have coaches that can show the younger players how to do the little things without blocking their development. ka'aihue and gordon belong on the MLB roster.
3. no team will take guillen's contract, but the royals can eat the salary for the rest of the year as terms of the trade and find a trading partner; getting anything out of that contract is a win.
4. long term--still leaves big needs at either 2B or SS (whichever position Aviles does not play) and C.
5. in the pipeline you have Moustakas (3B), so you need to find a spot for Callaspo or he needs to move to RF or to another team. you also have Hosmer, which means 1B/DH is crowded as well.

What's AAAA? No such league exists. If a guys in the majors, he's either a good major league, an average major leaguer, or a bad major leaguer. That's it. Same for the minors.
Using catchy phrases like "AAAA" doesn't mean a damn thing. A guy is either in the minors or in the majors.
Also, did you see the numbers posted above about Guillen? No one is going to trade for him. If anything happens, it will be after Moore releases him because he isn't produciing and no one will make a trade. Then some team will pick him up for the minimum. The only way Guillen gets traded is a throw in with one of the prospects, like Crow or Montgomery.
And seeing how Moore does things, I can believe that will happen, and in return, we'll get David Eckstein, Milton Bradley, Mike Lowell, and a promise that the "process" is working.

Or keep Gordon at 3B, since it's the position he's always played, and he does a good job there. And then move Callaspo to LF, because the idoicy of people (not you) thinking that where a guy plays defensively has anything to do with his offensive ability or numbers is insane.
That puts Podsednek on the bench where he belongs, or better yet, traded for a relief pitcher to anyone who needs outfield help (Dodgers?, Braves?) and only leaves the problem of Guillen getting 400 plate appeareances while Ka'aihue spends the year in Omaha.

Don't agree at all about Podsednik. YOu have a veteran player that is showing the younger guys how to put the team first by advancing runners, stealing bases, taking the extra base, and showing good leadership, not to mention his superb fielding in getting to balls in the OF. Gordon has been lost at the major league level. He could be a AAAA player for all we know. I would love to see him succeed but if it isn't until after the All Star break I think that is better for the team. Guillen has had a few clutch hits and at DH he is at least presenting value on the trade market and hopefully he will be gone after the break. Showcase his bat because his legs are gone. Maybe you can get a little something for him like a prospect or middle reliever. The minors are stacked andif they all come up next year and the year after they will be competing for titles in 2012 and winning them in 2013.
