I agree. If they were so concerned, why put him out there? I think the pitching coach was just talking him up, and there are a fair amount of guys out there that will simply not admit to not feeling right. But it’s really odd that they’d pull him that quickly. Outside of the previous game start with 4 walks in the 1st inning, he pitched okay since G2.

Just remember, folks. This is the same John Maine who began his last start by walking the bases loaded on 12 pitches. Either he’s completely ineffective at this point, in which case you don’t want him pitching anyway, or he’s in fact hurt, in which case you don’t want him pitching. Now maybe they shouldn’t have run him out there at all, but I have to support the decision to get him off the field.

Based on the recent history with the Met’s medical staff and some of their (mis)diagnoses of players injuries, it sure seems like they are over reacting to the well justified criticism they have received over the last few months. My guess is that they have a Ouiga Board and a magic 8 ball in the clubhouse, which told them to pull Maine.

I use to be a huge fan but stuff like this 20+ years ago made me not care anymore (that and all the strikes). There is always something dumb going on with the Mets. Either it’s trading away players or making horrible free agent signings. The way they dismantled the 1986 team was unreal. And on one day, they traded away Lenny Dykstra and Roger McDowell (all very good players at that time) for Juan Samuel. Now they havea GM who does not go for the best players out there, only ones of mostly Hispanic background for his dream of a mostly Hispanic team. Omar Minaya needs to go. It starts with him.

There’s just something “not right” with the Mets. I can’t put my finger on it. Is it simply a matter of perception: Is it the NY thing (microscope put on everything)? Is it the writers who try to bait people to make up a story?
Or is it real, and the make up of the team isn’t right for whatever reason?
Just seems to be ridiculous drama with the team with all sorts of senseless actions and overreactions.
