You want to argue what tragedy is, tragedy is when anyone no matter what was the cause dies at what most people consider a young age. Who among us hasnt done some form of drug be it illegal or prescription, the difference between the young ones that die and the rest of us is we are just lucky but maybe the next time we wont be. But who cares how he actually died, I am sure his family and friends could care less if he was using or had used anything, they have still lost a dear and beloved friend and family member. Jose will never get to hold his grandchildren, see his kids graduate high school and or college, walk his daughter down the aisle on her wedding day, or be able to grow old with his wife. That is TRAGEDY, so yes my heart goes out to his wife and kids and all the rest of his loved ones.

What seems tragic to me is the fact that you’re arguing tragedy over an internet message board. Even if the word is superfluous can’t you just leave it alone? People generally don’t care because it’s not the point of the story.

Dying so young is a tragic loss. I highly doubt cocaine or steroids had anything to do with it.

im just wondering why all u negative assholes have no compassion? whether or not this man did coke or steroids is irrelevant,and its only pure speculation on your part..no one knows why he hat a fatal heart attack,,,i used to be on the fire department and have seen young people have serious cardiac issues..we had a guy who died of a heart attack at 66…and his wife told me he had his first one at 36..so it DOES happen
this man was a human being for Gods sakes..and he left behind a family,tons of fans and friends who loved him, so quit fucking arguing about whether or not u consider it a tragedy,or whether or not he did drugs….its so easy to talk shit on the internet, makes your balls bigger than they actually are…i jsut feel sad that there are your kind of people out in this world

I took my son to see him in Houston. He was jogging around the track early before a game. He came by us and was acting like he was exhuasted and about to fall down. Then he just laughed. My son did to. Everytime he came by us, he would make a funny face at my little boy or say something. He never got the “EGO” that so many pros do. God be with him and his family. I am sure they are rejoiceing this man in Heaven tonight!

Sadly, Dave, it’s a LOT more than three or four. Any thread that involves the Yankees or the Red Sox, for example, invariably results in a juvenile “my team roolz, your team sux” taunting session, before ultimately degrading into wannabe witty remarks about steroid use by David Ortiz and Alex Rodriguez.

I imagine that many of the posters at this site are young men who have not lost friends yet to an early death. More people than they would think die in their 30s due to little more than bad luck or poor genes.

It is galling that somebody’s death is the source of entertainment for some. They should only hope that their own passing won’t be treated so glibly.

davidc45629, the use of the word “tragic” in the headline is superfluous. The 158 people who died in the Air India plane crash this week – THAT is tragic. David, if tragedy is merely “losing a loved one,” and in this case the person isn’t your loved one, we might as well put “tragic” in the headline of every single story about anybody or group who dies.

Every time that something happens around here (a death, Pujols argues with is manager, someone consult a doctor) three or four peoples always go to drugs (steroids, HGH or cocaine) Come on, we have no evidence of drug used by Lima (and even if we did why should we point that out and gloat about it.) It doesn’t changes the fact that a young man has died a quick and sudden death. Let’s keep all the speculation about the reason for ourselves, we don’t know and we franckly shouldn’t care. Maybe he used to put too much salt on his breakfast for all we know.
And for those who aren’t convince go visit an hospital from time to time you will see many many many young persons died of natural causes and not because they lived a bad life but because the were unlucky.

i think u are the only one thinking it, but found it necessary to casually bring up something so extremely inappropriate and sensitive shortly after this man’s death. you, sir, are one classy individual. even if YOU did think it, you COULD keep it to yourelf. that involves being tactful, which obviously is a quality that escapes you….keep trying though champion. you’ll get it.

To all those of you who think you are funny posting comments about steroids or other drugs…go to hell. Who knows what will turn out to be the actual cause, but he was a life loving person who could light up a room just by being himself. His family has to be going through an incredibly rough time, losing a loved one at such a young age. “Lima Time” will always bring a smile to my face.

I played golf with Lima about a year ago in Long Beach and will never forget it, he was a great guy with a huge smile and great laugh. He was just as fun on the golf course as he was on the pitching mound. He stood with the golf cart right in my line about 30 yards in front of me and said OK now hit it right over me…He played scratch golf and helped myself and my buddies around the course smiling and laughing all day long. A great guy and as a Dodger fan a great Dodger! RIP Jose Lima.

I loved watching him pitch for the Astros “barking” into his glove when things didn’t go his way! Also saw him at Tux and Tennis Shoes benefit at the Wortham in Houston! He was a showman…..and had a great smile! God bless his soul, may he rest in peace.
