The Stephen Strasburg hype machine goes to 11

May 27, 2010, 2:10 PM EDT

stephen strasburg headshot double-a.jpgI’m just as excited about the arrival of Stephen Strasburg as anyone, but if you’re either (a) seriously worried that the birth of your baby might interfere with the Strasburg game; or (b) pretending that you’re worried about it so that someone will write about you on the web, you probably need to readjust your life’s priorities.

In other news, I just sold a kidney to buy Strasburg’s only baseball card!!!

You say, “I’m just as excited about the arrival of Stephen Strasburg as anyone” yet you are obviously not as excited as this guy. English comprehension level of writer = fail.
Also, dude, you come off as a little catty.

$16K for a baseball card of a player who hasn’t played in the majors yet is insane. These “one of a kind” cards being printed now are part of what’s wrong with the trading card companies now. This isn’t the T-206 Honus Wagner or a Mickey Mantle rookie card. This is only “rare” because the flippin’ card company decided to print just 1–big deal. It’ll be worth something one day IF the kids does turn out to be a Hall of Famer. If not, in a few years everyone will be laughing at the dork who laid $16K down on a $5 card. I’ll keep my collection of every card from the 1970’s and skip the new ones, thanks.
