Albert Pujols, Chris Young talk about the 2008 comebacker

May 28, 2010, 12:15 PM EDT

A couple of years ago, Albert Pujols hit a ball into the head of Chris Young of the Padres, fracturing his skull.  The two of them talked about it at Petco Park on Wednesday, and Chris Jenkins of the San Diego Union-Tribune has a great story about it.

There have already been more than enough for anyone’s tastes, but it’s kind of amazing that more guys aren’t seriously hurt by batted baseballs.

since I didn’t feel much pain because of the adrenaline, maybe they can stitch me up and I can keep pitching

Those are some giant balls to think that at that moment. WOW

Oh man. My favorite part of this is:
“[Pujols] returned to first base as Young departed and even wound up knocking Padres catcher Josh Bard out of the same game with a collision at the plate.”
    What a monster!

Andy, IIRC that was actually two batters later he knocked out Bard! It was one heck of a trip around the bases!
