Hard not to feel bad for Pat the Bat because no player, in my opinion, put up with the constant criticism that Phills fans threw at him with more class and poise. And he did manage to put together a great season with the Phills in the WS year. That being said, anyone who watched him every day knew that he was a major liability in the field and that his hitting numbers that year were an anomaly due to his glacier-like bat speed.
I hope he makes it back, though, because he seems like a really good, really tough guy.

The only time he played well EVER was against the NY Mets. This guy is overrated, and deserves nothing more than a minor league contract.
Re: Joe — He was a sympathy start for the Phillies in their World Series appearance. No reason for him to be there except for the fact that Philadelphia loved him and there was always a *CHANCE* he’d put a fat part of the bat on the ball.

Good luck to “Pat the Bat” he was always my favorite on the World Champion Phillies ! Sorry when he went to the Rays. My best to him however it turns out.

why is it that you would say heis not much of an outfielder these days? he is 33 and last i check less then 2 years ago he was good enough outfielder to start as an outfielder on a world series team? last i checked he never was hurt and 33 isnt exactly over the hill even in baseball terms. just wish people writing stories about someone would think b4 they write. That is why a younger player cant take a job as a dh, because he will often be branded a dh from then on .
