How you know when you're about to be fired

Jun 4, 2010, 8:20 AM EDT

The official announcement hasn’t come yet, but someone on Orioles Nation is already ready for Dave Trembley to be gone.  Witness third base coach Juan Samuel’s Wikipedia page from around 11PM last night, which reads: “On June 3, 2010, the Orioles fired manager Dave Trembley and announced Samuel as the new manager.”

It has since been changed back to show him only as a coach, but I have this feeling it will revert before lunchtime.

It’s not the firing that is important or telling, but how they handle it. This is one of the most drawn-out firings I’ve ever seen. You can’t root for a guy to be fired (unless it’s the 3B coach on the RS), but it seems like they should do it or not do it.

Heck yes, you can root for someone to be fired. I root daily for the M&M Duo (Minaya and Manuel) to be sent packing. Unfortunately my Mets have a spineless owner who lost 50 kajillion dollars in the Madoff scheme and doesn’t want to have to pay them off.

I’ve been rooting for Terry Crowley to get fired for what seems like five years now. How he has survived so many managers I will never understand.

The “current version” has this at the bottom:
Juan Samuel was announced as the interim manager of the Baltimore Orioles on June 4, 2010. He takes over for Dave Trembley who led the team to a 15-39 record.
