First, I am not a Yankees fan (Go Reds!). That being said, I think you are sensationalizing the Yankees’ struggles a touch (sarcasm).
You say: “The Yankees, for what it’s worth, have lost 14 of their last 28 games and trail the Rays by two games in the AL East.”
The positive spin: “The Yankees, in spite of Teixeira’s struggles, have played .500 ball in their last 28 games and trail the Rays by only two games in the AL East.”

It’s a good thing you stated that you were a Jays fan , because you sounded like a Sox fan . Seriously the Jays have a lot of power on that club . They kind of remind me of the Rangers teams of a few years back . The bottom line will be pitching , and they’ll go as far as the pitching will take them . Remember the old saying : “Good pitching will stop good hitting” It’s still along season , and who ever gets hot at the right time will win the AL east.

I was at the game and loved it. My Jays are for real. They used both the long ball and small ball to defeat the EVIL EMPIRE. After 23 innings, the Yankees have only scored 3 runs off the Jays pitchers.

Where is Jeff Gillooly when you need him? Tex needs a couple of weeks off and watch video of his seasons with the Texas Rangers and then maybe he’ll get a clue. I can count about 5 losses the Yankees could have avoided if Teixeira had had just a measly single, much less a HR. Alas, Teixeira can’t even manage that these days. He is solely responsible for the Yanks not being in first place.

He should be dropped in the order , if and when he comes out of his funk then you can put him back to third . I’ve never seen Tex look this bad . The pitches that he’s striking out on aren’t even close to being strikes , the man is totally lost. Maybe he should sit for a few games . At this point he’s hurting the team . His only saving grace is his defense hasn’t suffered .

Yankee fans, watch your backs. The Jays long-ball offense is incredible, and if their young pitching staff can hold up, they can get the wild card. Man, if only Roy stayed for the one season that the pitching and hitting have been good in the same season. We would be in first place by now.

Isn’t it pretty obvious that when a team rolls up the Brinks truck to sign a guy to a long term deal, they are not going to bench that player, or even move him very far down the lineup, due to a two-month cold spell? This isn’t a rent-a-player or a call-up, it’s someone who was chosen to be one of the cornerstones of the franchise for the better part of a decade. Speculation like that just kills me.

This is just more evidence, than any fair-minded baseball fan should be voting for Justin Morneau as often as possible in the All-Star Game balloting. Exhibition or not, some results are travesties of justice, and Teix over the AL Sabermetric triple crown leader is one of them.

The Yankees are 14-14 in their last 28 and trail Tampa by 2. 28 games ago, they trailed Tampa by 1.5–it’s not like Tampa has been red hot throughout this cold streak of theirs. Boston has taken advantage of both teams’ dry spell to get back in the race, but it is a very long season that will involve hot and cold streaks from everyone

“plenty capable of getting red hot”. Yes, or staying cold. Yankee fans may find it inconceivable, but the Rays are also capable of getting red hot or going cold. So are the not-dead-yet Red Sox. So is almost any team except the Orioles, Pirates, Royals, or Astros, who probably aren’t plenty capable of getting red hot but who have cold mastered.
