There is no discrimination against blacks in BB, and there is no discrimination against whites in basketball. If more blacks in the RS OF is considered a good thing, then more whites in the Celtic front court MUST be considered a good thing, if you wish to remain consistent.
It’s beyond silly to condone the writer’s remarks that 3 white guys in the Celtics’ front court is “good to see”.
Sorry, that was a typo, I meant to say, 3 blacks in the RS OF is a good thing to see.
It’s clearly racist to prefer to see one group over another for no other reason than the color of their skin.

Like I said, it’s not progress. You have three blacks playing together because of injuries. Injuries are not progress. The RS don’t have these three guys on the team because they are progressive.
Now, how about answering my question?
Would you consider it progress if Garnett got injured and got replaced by a white player? And if so, would replacing him with a black player be considered a lack of progress?

Originally from 138th. Still a nice section down there. Riverdale never appealed to me. It just doesn’t seem like a neighborhood, or at least a defined neighborhood. Still nicer than some other sections, and the section near Inwood Park is nice and a pretty quick ride into the city. If I had to live on the West Side, that’s where I’d set up.

It’s not progress. That implies you’re moving towards a goal. That goal was reached 20-30 years ago. No one cared about the complexion of the team since I can remember. If Garnett went down with an injury, and he got replaced by a white guy, there would not be one single person in Boston that would consider that progress. Would you?

Then you’re saying that the writer should opine that the Celtics having an all-white is a good thing? Isn’t that what he’s really saying? If someone wrote that the Celtics needed more white players, they’d get pilloried. This is like from the ’70s when everytime the interviewed a black FB player, the interviewer would add as a closer, ‘and he’s so well spoken’.
This stuff is dead, and the only ones keeping it alive are some semi-literate guilt-ridden sportswriters. My kids play sports in the Bronx. No one cares who’s black, white, Latino, or a mixed marriage. If you told them what you just said, they’d think you were completely nuts.

Why would the news media say an all-black Red Sox outfield (which means two starters are unavailable) is a good thing, but made plenty of noise about the 1980s Bird-McHale-Ainge Celtics being too white?
Why? Because they are racists, or guilt-ridden caucasians, neither of which are worth a damn.

Yeah, I knd of agree with what Joey said. I’m sure you didn’t mean anything harmful with your comment, but as a Red Sox fan I’d much rather see three players who were healthy and talented enough to start in the outfield regardless of their skin color or nationality than just three African American outfielders. I’m all for equal rights and opportunities, but as a baseball fan I’m more concerned with fielding a team that can help my club win.

I challenge you to say an all-white track team, or basketball team, or an all-white anything is a good thing. Your kind of racism should have died out a long time ago. The only thing that is ‘good to see’ is an outfield comprised of the best players reasonably available, regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or anything else.
You should be ashamed to root for one race over another.
