Joe Mauer makes a fantastic catch

Jun 11, 2010, 8:41 AM EDT

Joe Mauer made a pretty spiffy catch last night.

With one out in the ninth inning, Mitch Maier fouled one back. The ball drifted behind the netting and appeared to be heading out of play, but Mauer ranged back, reached his glove
around the net and made the catch

Nice highlight on what was an otherwise bad defensive night for the Twins.

And the play somehow wasn’t included in SportsCenter’s Top 10 this morning. Lame.

This Mauer kid is gonna make it big someday. I say keep him.

It’s not even one of the web gem nominees for last night. Did ESPN just give their entire baseball dept the night off with Game 4 of the NBA Finals going on?

As I assume it shows in that video, PBP guy Dick Bremer actually came out with an “OHHHHHHH, well played, Mauer!” almost immediately after that catch was made. I have to assume he’s been anxiously holding on to that one since spring.

Dick Bremer, well he called it then! Joe Mauer AL MVP! You, well, this is why you still live with your mother! Get a life!!! At least he’s worth more than $184 million!!! Find something better to do with your time than try to make your lame ass try to sound better than someone milliions more important and millions more worth than you!!!
