Johan Santana admitted to consensual sex with his accusor

Jun 25, 2010, 1:20 PM EDT

The Smoking Gun yesterday provided more details regarding the sexual battery allegations made against Johan Santana last fall.  Expanding on the TMZ stuff, TSG’s report includes Santana’s statements to law enforcement and additional docs from the Lee County, Florida Sheriff’s Department.  The upshot: Santana says — and explains in pretty graphic detail — that the encounter was consensual.  His accusor said otherwise, the police didn’t have anything else to go on and, as I said the other day, the legal aspects of all of this are over.

Wait that’s not entirely true. The legal aspects of the criminal complaint are over.  The civil stuff, however (i.e. the hellacious divorce case that Santana’s wife is gonna rain down on him as a result of him admitting under oath that he messed around with another woman) is probably just beginning.

So he’s got that going for him. Which is nice.

There’s no story here. Yes, it’s another athlete behaving badly. Big deal.
I sometimes long for the days when reporters helped athletes to hide their misdeeds. It wasn’t what reporters should be, but maybe less information about certain things was better than too much information about everything.

    Couldn’t agree more.
We women know “men are pigs” (j/k) and it may be news when they aren’t behaving badly.

Its always the same friggen story to. Married athlete cheats(usually consensual). The girl that he cheated with tries to cash in on the affair by saying it was rape or sexual assault. Divorce comes next. Same story every time. Im sure newspapers already have the stories written and just plug in the names and locations.

Not News? This is Johan Santana here. He plays in NY. I’ve seen them write articles about this guys bowel movements and how they weren’t hitting the “strike zone” properly, and how he balked on a few of them too!

OK. Bud, suspend this man 30 games for unbecoming of a professional player! He admitted it!

Enough! Let’s back to balls and strikes, home runs and strikeouts, fly balls and foul pop ups!

Perhaps that’s true, honeybunny, but remember: beneath every pig, there’s a sow.

Gator, LOL. Although I suspect that as long as bacon is in the works, it matters not whether sow is underneath.
    BTW…Regarding “Men are pigs” – I don’t say it like it’s a bad thing.
